Dapol''s No. 92220 Evening Star steam locomotive kit is a survivor of a range of 34 railway models produced under the brand name Rosebud Kitmaster. Short-lived, but critically acclaimed, Rosebud Kitmaster kits of predominately British and European prototypes were, and still are, esteemed by countless model railroaders. The Kitmaster Class 92000 was, in its day, an outstanding model as were all the Kitmasters.

Hi Everyone,

Kelly, John is correct. You can order Dapol's Evening Star .

Richard, Airfix did reissue the kit. In 1962 Airfix bought out Kitmaster.

I am preparing a feature on Kitmaster and how it became Airfix, thence passed to Dapol. Stay tuned!

I know, but not every locomotive was reissued by Airfix.. that is why the Deltic Diesels and Beyer Garratts fetch hundreds of $$ on ebay

I wonder if Dapol has done anything with those.

And come to think of it, I still need to finish my Airfix BR Mogul (another Kitmaster reissue).

Aww, that would be horrible.

It's quite an impressive beast, the Beyer-Garratt. One I'd love to see for real one time.

Then again, there have been soooo many rumours about destroyed moulds in the past, and most of them were not true except the case of the Aurora monsters.

Operating Garratt locomotives can be found in Europe, Africa, India and Australia. There is one operating on a tourist line in South Africa and in Natal.

The Beyer-Garratt molds are gone. The Deltic was saved (except for the clear parts) and Dapol issued several runs of them--I have two:

Tragically, I am pretty sure most of the molds are gone for good. Mr. Boyle, when buying them for Dapol, apparently did an exhaustive search for them. And the J94 Saddle Loco tooling was destroyed in the Dapol fire.
